My mom loves to hang up little sayings or quotes all around her house. If she finds it uplifting in anyway, it will find a way to creep into her house. I always thought growing up that she did it for us kids. Either to help us, to uplift us, or just make us feel guilty! haha. But now that I am a grown adult and have to do things on my own, I have found that I have read little sayings that have helped me and I wanted to hang them up to remind me to be a better person. I am thinking now that she did it more to help herself.
Sometimes, being a parent to a toddler is the absolute hardest job in the world. Hands down. So a few weeks ago, Lee was out of town, hunting, for the 3rd weekend in a row. I was sick with 1st trimester sickness and Owen was being a toddler. Throwing tantrums, crying, whining, etc. Needless to say, I was feeling sorry for myself and decided to order out chinese food. When I finished and opened up my fortune cookie, a higher power must have been at work because my fortune read:
"The difficulties in life are intended to make us better, not bitter"
And you know what I did? Hung it up on my fridge where it is still hanging to this day. Sometimes, turning into your mother isn't as bad as you thought.

Cookies, Pingpons and cough syrup
What a fun weekend. On Saturday night we went over to my parents because both my brother ans sister were home from college at the same time so we had dinner and then made sugar cookies with the kids. It was fun!
Then last night we decided it was time to carve our pingpons, that is how Owen says pumpkins. It is so cute! He has been obsessed with pumpkins so we thought it would be so fun for him to get all goopy. Last year, he didn't seem too interested in touching the goo so I was all excited this year for him to be big and messy. Of course, when you want your kids to be all messy, they don't. Owen did NOT want to stick his hands in the pumpkins and pull out the seeds. I had a hard time even trying to get him to touch them once they were out. Oh well. I always loved that part of halloween but I guess he will be like his daddy. Lee absolutely hates cleaning out the pumpkins so that meant I got to clean out 4 pumpkins all alone! Owen pretty much just ran around playing with the dog and wasn't too interested in us carving but he was happy to see them when they were done. He got real excited and ran around our house yelling "pingpon, pingpon, pingpon". What a cutie. I love his little words. He is such an amazing little boy and the things he does and says just make me so happy! Anyways here we are carving away and having a good time!
We bought these little boots for Owen that he wanted to wear around, even when we took off his clothes. So here is my little cowboy looking at the pumpkins in his boots
These are the finished products. I did the 2 small ones and Lee carved the 2 big ones!
On a side note, Sunday morning, Owen decided to find a bottle of cherry cough syrup (apparently I didn't put the lid on correctly because it was child locked) and dumped it all over our white carpet. Now we have a pretty pink stain as you walk into our bedroom. Lovely.

A new addition to the Jacobs family!
Well it is official! I am pregnant again! yay! We went to my first doctors appt today and got a little ultrasound and heard the heartbeat and all that fun stuff. According to my doctor and the ultrasound they put me at 9 weeks 3 days so that would put my due date at like May 23 or 24 or something like that. I can't believe that I am already having another baby. I look at Owen and I am just amazed at how quickly he has grown and how fast it has gone by. I get so excited that we will have another addition to our family! I am nervous to see how Owen will react but I am sure he will adjust as all kids do. I love the first appointment when you actually see that there is a little bean inside you and then you hear the racing heartbeat and it is just a beautiful little miracle! Well I just wanted to get the news out to anyone that hasn't heard! We are so excited! :)

Fall Fun!
Ok I promise that I will get better about updating my blog. Owen sure keeps me busy but it is no excuse. Anyways, I love fall, my favorite time of year. I just love the fall colors and all that fun stuff. So without boring you with typing I will just post a few pics of the things we have done! Enjoy!
First I went with some of Lee's family to Gardner Village. They were having a wee witches weekend so a lot of activities for little kids. There were witches walking around handing out suckers and even had a little petting zoo.
I stayed the weekend up at Lee's parents house because Lee was gone hunting and we went to a farmers market in Ogden and there was a little train driving around that of course Owen was obsessed with and we had to take him on it. Here he is with his cousins Jill and Andie. They even let him get up front and ring the bell when it was over.
One thing about Owen is his obsession with Tractors. He of course loves cars, trucks, and airplanes but there is something about tractors that the boy loves. I went with my mom and sister and we took the kids to a little pumpkin patch that was his heaven. They had like 10 or so tractors that the kids could get up on and play. They also had a little cornmaze. It was a lot of fun and of course Owen through a mighty toddler fit when we had to say bye bye to the tractors.
We also took the kids to Wheeler Farm where we got to go on a hayride, see animals, feed ducks and go through a hay maze. Owen had the time of his life!

Car for Sale
We our selling our 1998 Honda Civic. I am sad to see it go. This was one of my first cars I bought and it is a real gem! The lady I had bought it from bought it straight off the lot and she had never had any accidents or problems with it. I bought it and have never had any accidents or problems at all whatsoever! The check engine light has never been on. This car is so great. It gets GREAT gas mileage! Around 28-30 MPG. It is a great commuter car or would be a great car for a first time car buyer or student! It has 167,000 miles on it but I know it will go well over 200,000. We have taken excellent care of this car and gotten all its checkups and oil changes on time. If anyone is looking for a cheap but great car let us know! We are asking 2,700 but it blue books at 3,000. There is some slight body damage (scrape) and the cd player doesn't work anymore but other than that it is perfect! It is a manual transmission as well. I really am so sad to see this good car leave us but I do love our new car! Anyways, if anyone is interested please contact Lee or I at 801-867-4664 or 801-529-6991. Here is what she looks like...
And just because Owen is so cute and LOVES to drive cars...

18 month checkup
Wow! Can't believe I have a 1 1/2 year old running around! Seems like yesterday he was born! Anyways, I took him into the doctor yesterday for his 18 month checkup and here are his stats:
Weight: 34%
Height: 61%
Head: 70%
That boy has always had a big head! He got 2 shots which were really sad because this is the first time I think he knew what was going on and he remembers it. He cried and I felt so horrible. And today he kept pointing to his bandaid where he got them and whining and saying ouchy. It is so sad. He loves to point out his "ouchies" and say either ouchy or ow. He also loves to point out mommy and daddys ouchies. He loves to pull open my shirt where I got my skin cancer removed and try to poke it and say ow. It is cute! He is starting to say more words finally! He can say:
mommy
daddy
ouchy/ow
hi
hello
bye
feebee (our dog)
Thank you
binky
meow
ruff ruff
quack
moo
cluck (in case you haven't noticed, he doesn't say the name of animals, just when he sees them he makes their noise)
bee
Tate (my friends son that is the same age, they play together a lot)
No
me
I am not sure what else, I know he has said more but these are what he says pretty regularly. I know he can understand pretty much everything I am saying and it is so crazy. Yesterday I was folding laundry and a sock was too far from my reach so I asked Owen to get the sock for mommy. He didn't know what a sock was and I could tell he was looking around where I was pointing trying to figure it out. I kept holding up a different sock and saying sock, sock, get mommy that sock and pointing to it. He finally got it and brought it to me. He is so cute and obedient and I love all the little things he learns and does.
He also says Thank you all the time! I love it! Everytime I give him something he says "dank oo". I just want to gobble him up it is so cute! I am so proud of him! I know every parent feels the same way about their own children but I just Love him with all my heart and I am so thankful I am his mommy! Here's to another 18 months and more!

Sad news
Well I wasn't sure when I was going to blog about this or if I was going to even at all, but I figure this is more my journal and I need to write about everything. Even sad things. At the same time we found out that Lee's sister Shanna was pregnant, we found out that I was as well. I was a week late and kept taking pregnancy tests and they all kept saying No. I really didn't feel pregnant but I thought it was possible. On Sunday I took a test in the morning and it said No again. So I just went on with my day. Later that night Lee saw the test sitting on top of the trash and says "You might want to come see this" and I was like "Oh whatever Lee don't trick me like that" (he has pulled that one on me before) and he was like "No really" so I go in and there is faint positive line. So we decided to go buy another pregnancy test to double check. I took it that night and yep Pregnant. I had a lot of concerns and doubts and I felt very unsettled. Not about getting pregnant or having another child but I felt like something was wrong. I don't know why but I guess I didn't have any symptoms or feelings and I just didn't "feel" it. I told Lee that I didn't want to say anything until we heard the heartbeat and knew for sure because I thought something was wrong. I kept trying to push it out of my mind and telling myself that my body just knew I was pregnant so I didn't have any symptoms like last time. I can't even explain the feeling I had. I was happy I was pregnant, we have been wanting another baby but I just didn't feel right about it. Anyways I get on with it, call the doctor and set up the first appt. My due date was April 19.
Then Wednesday happened. I was about 6 weeks. I woke up and was doing our usual morning routine of getting Owen breakfast and playing and all that fun stuff and I thought I felt something. I went to the bathroom and there was blood. I thought it might be "implantation bleeding" because it was really light. I immediately called the doctor and they told me that might be what it was but to come in that afternoon for an ultrasound to double check. As the day went on, I just knew that I had miscarried. There was too much blood and I knew that there was no baby. Lee took the afternoon off and we went in and got the ultrasound. I kept hoping that it was just one of those fluke accidents and everything was fine, but I knew deep down, like I knew from the beginning that everything was not fine and there was no baby anymore.
Even though I knew something was wrong, I still have had a hard time with it. I cried a lot that day but I know it was for the best. I feel almost relieved because I knew something was off but it is still a loss and it still hurts. I keep thinking "maybe I worked out too hard" or "I shouldn't have taken that Ibuprofen" or "what did I do wrong" etc, etc. I know there is nothing I did or could have done and it was probably something wrong with the baby. But I think everyone that miscarries or has complications thinks things like this. I feel like I was just waiting for this to happen. I knew I was going to miscarry at some point or another. I am glad that it was this early so I didn't have to get any surgery or anything.
The funny thing about this is that it was our first month trying and we got pregnant our first month with Owen so I know that we will be able to conceive again. The doctor wants me to wait a while to go through a regular cycle or two then we can try again. I also know that down the road when we do get pregnant and have another that I wouldn't have that child if I hadn't miscarried this time. I am trying to stay positive. I am so thankful for my family and friends that knew and were so loving and supportive.
So I guess the cat's out of the bag. Yes, we want another baby and yes, we are going to try after a month or two. Hopefully everything goes well and we are able to conceive quickly and everything will "stick". I hope in a few months I have some Good News!
